Students and young children love to read this book due to the nature of beat and rhythm of saying Tikki Tikki Tembo's full name multiple times throughout the story. I remember reading this story growing up and absolutely loving it. I am a bit unsure of how it aged though as I am unsure of it's cultural appropriateness. Something that would be interesting to look more into. But it will be a name I always remember!
I hope that people realize that "Tikki Tikki Tembo" contains very INCORRECT information about Chinese culture...What's even more disturbing is that the introduction written inside the book jacket made the story sound like a real folklore. Below the review is a discussion of both the review and the book. (URL missing because it had been changed by a spammer.) AwardsNotable Lists
When the eldest son fell in the well and most of the time getting help was spent pronouncing the name of the one in trouble, the Chinese, according to legend, decided to give all their children short names. No library descriptions found. |

I think that a secure cover should be installed on the deep well in this folktale. ( )
