Fiction. Literature. HTML:Before diving into Cecelia Ahern's new sequel, Postscript, discover how Holly's journey began in this New York Times bestseller.

Everyone needs a guardian angel! Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mates. But not Holly and Gerry. Childhood sweethearts, they could finish each other's sentences and even when they fought, they laughed. No one could imagine Holly and Gerry without each other. Until the unthinkable happens.
Gerry's death devastates Holly. But as her 30th birthday looms, Gerry comes back to her. He's left her a bundle of notes, one for each of the months after his death, gently guiding Holly into her new life without him, each note signed 'PS, I Love You'. As the notes are gradually opened, and as the year unfolds, Holly is both cheered up and challenged. The man who knows her better than anyone sets out to teach her that life goes on. With some help from her friends, and her noisy and loving family, Holly finds herself laughing, crying, singing, dancing—and being braver than ever before. Life is for living, she realises—but it always helps if there's an angel watching over you.

Sad, hopeful and inspiring; 30 yo widow Holly is mourning her husband Gerry's death from brain cancer. Several months out from his death, her mother hands her a packet of letters from Gerry. Gerry always said he'd make her a list - and he did with a letter/month that she was to open on the 1st of each month - and follow what he told her to do. ( )

(heard most of it, but my audio book became a little skipp-happy so I only got most of the story)

very cute and a good reminder to love and cherish the one you love. Oh, and to make a List too! ( )

absolutely loved this book! I have learned, over the years, to read a book and then watch the movie if there is one. I can wholeheartedly say that the book completely outweighs the movie. I couldn't even finish the movie, as it seemed to have almost nothing in common with the book. Anyway, the book follows a woman who looses her husband to a brain tumor. Even though he is no longer with her in life, notes that he left behind help her to get through that first year without him and learn to live again. This book is written beautifully, it will make you laugh and cry. ( )

I like Cecelia Ahern's writing. Her style is casual and fun - you laugh and cry. I found the story to be too sad for me to really enjoy. ( )

I am not a fan of chick-lit but as this is a favourite of a friend I thought I’d give it ago. Hmm.. there were things about the main character that really annoyed me. Her whole life revolved around a man. She had no investment in a career, had no hobbies and all her friends were those shared with her husband. The book was also incredibly dated - characters go to the library for internet access, smoking and excessive drinking are the norm and the females all tan on their holidays. There wasn’t much I liked about this book so I’m glad I only paid $1 for it at an op shop. Feel sure my next read will be better. ( )
