I feel this way mainly because of the language and illustrations. The story explains to readers very broadly, what the holiday of Thanksgiving is about, through the use of two characters; a little girl and puppy. On each page, the little girl explains a different aspect of Thanksgiving. For example, on one of the pages she talks about eating turkey, while on another, all of the people in her life she is thankful for. The language throughout the book is very clear, and is easy for young children to understand. On each of the descriptive pages, an illustration coincides with what the text says. When the little girl talks about decorating her house for the holiday, a colorful picture beside the text is drawn, with the image of a little girl hanging leaf and turkey decorations on a door. Children can easily detect from the images what the text is saying. The main idea of the story is to inform children about the holiday of thanksgiving. Not only does the story state several traditions, but also explains that the most important aspect of the holiday, is being thankful. no reviews | add a review
