This would have been much better as single book and could then have lost a hundred unnecessary-ish pages. I imagine it was the publisher's wish (its happened to a few authors) and these days they may have gone with the single book as big books are the in thing.
Some of the tranistions between books were a bit jarring and characters got lost/eliminated without much thought.
Another chapter or two at the end would have been better for wrapping some more plot points up as well.
All in all an interesting read but flawed. ( )
