Counting book of snake putting mice in jar

You could use this book for a first grade classroom as an interactive read aloud. During the read aloud, students would be given questions about who the characters in the book were and what happened to them. They would also be asked where the story took place. After the interactive read aloud, students would have to illustrate a picture from the story on their own to show the characters and settings. You could also use this in a second grade classroom as a read aloud. After your read aloud, students would make a story map of the book. This could be a simple book to introduce them to introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion. They could identify which part of the book is which and write a sentence or two about each part.

Book description
A hungry snake happens upon 10 sleeping mice. He counts them into a jar for dinner. But before he eats them, he goes off in search of an even bigger mouse. By the time he returns, the little mice have managed to uncount themselves and escape.
This is a great book for practicing counting forwards and backwards.
