Each one is lovely, like a coffee table book--but for your pocket. It is also packed full of information. "The Search for Ancient Greece" tells the history of uncovering the remnants of this civilization from the middle ages to the present time. It contains many beautiful reproductions of paintings and photographs of the artwork and architecture. For dilettantes like me, this kind of book is perfect. I've always been interested in Ancient Greece: its art, literature, sculpture, history--but never have the time to fully delve into all its fascinating aspects. It was not so in depth as to feel like I'm reading an academic tome, but not so simple and superficial as to feel like I got nothing out of it. ( ) no reviews | add a review
