A good clear introduction to a very complex topic lately abused by casual practioners. I offered to lend this book to one modern "Kabbalist" who told me her group had more fun making it up. At least she was honest about it. I understand Idel's book is considered
an important revision of Scholem. ( )

Prevod s nemačkog Eugen Verber "Kabala, doslovno, "predanje", odnosno predanje božanskih stvari, jeste jevrejska mistika. Njena istorija je duga i tokom mnogih vekova snažno je uticala na one krugove u jevrejskom narodu koji su težili dubljem razumevanju tradicionalnih oblika i predstava jevrejstva. Pisani izraz često veoma intezivnog stvaralaštva kabalista sačuvan je,od kasnog Srednjeg veka, u veoma obimnoj književnosti... U pokolenju u kojem je jevrejska istorija prošla kroz čudovišnu krizu svet predstava ovih starih jevrejskih ezoteričara ne deluje više tako zapanjujuće. Mi ga vidimo drugim očima, te nam se čini da zatvoreni simbololi zasližuju da se otvore i razjasne."

Geršom Šolem, autor, je osnivač moderne nauke o jevrejskoj mistici. Ovo je još jedna vredna knjiga vezana za jevrejsku baštinu u prevodu Eugena Verbera, preminulog pisca, prevodioca, glumca i našeg našeg najpoznatijeg judeiste i hebrejiste.

Da podsetimo da su u izdanju Narodne knjige počev od 2002. godine izašli neki naslovi u ediciji Izabrana dela Eugena Verbera: Uvod u jevrejsku veru, izbor tekstova i prevod Talmuda, antologija Jevrejske narodne bajke.
