Daniel Ponce es un pintor metido a detective, o al revés. Es un cínico; no se casa con nadie, a no ser que haya dinero por medio. Y lo seguirá siendo hasta que un importante industrial catalán, Jorge Puiggrán, acuda a él para que recupere los tres Picassos que le han robado antes de que el asunto pase a ser de dominio público. Todo sería mucho más sencillo si no hubiera un sospechoso improbable, si no hubiesen aparecido dos hermosas extranjeras asesinadas y si no existiera esa extraña red de artistas conceptuales de dudosa respetabilidad, que viven en medio de orgías interminables en las que disertan sobre la esencia de la creación.
