I absolutely love this series. The characters are all well-written. There isn't a single dull moment in the whole series. ( ) Stories based around prophecies are tough. Readers are pretty smart, so anything too simple and the mystery is ruined, but anything too obtuse and the ending seems cheap and contrived. It's a difficult thing to have a prophecy that in retrospect seems obvious yet isn't discovered along the way. I don't think Rick Riordan quite pulled it off, but it was close. The series ended very well and the aftermath was just long enough to settle everything that wanted settling. In short, regarding the series as a whole, I'm really glad I took the time to read it. There's some really great characters, a lot of fun action, and plenty of silliness. It's a series that makes you want to go outside and have adventures while crying out battle cheers. In fact... PEANUT BUTTER! My first impressions (Writing down my first impressions of the book. NOT an in-depth review. Reviews base on personal enjoyment.) RANK: Superb 3/18/2021 What a finale. What a great way to wrap up the series. I had so much fun. My favorite part is knowing what happen to the Oracle and Luke’s mom. This book shows how the gods set themselves to be taken over by Kronos. There was so much death for a middle grade book. Riordan didn’t shy away from it. The battle scenes are fun and engaging. Few problems I had. I felt the fight at Empire State Building drag on for a little too long. Annabeth felt a bit annoying in this one. Overall, A fun and tense read to wrap up Percy Jackson. Follow me on: Blog| Instagram The last installment to the terrific, humorous, fast-paced and generally just awesome Percy Jackson series. Great books always end so fast! *Sniff. Sniff.* By far, this is my favorite among all the 5 books. I really loved the interaction between May Castellan, Nico and Percy - you'll keep pitying her. The small gradual revelation of Luke's past was also wonderfully written. We could finally see the root of Luke's hatred towards the gods, and he was like the typical villan with a dark past who could have once been saved. Well he was 'saved' in the end. Sacrificing himself and being the real hero in the end to destroy Kronos was a rather unexpected twist in what we had expected. This book - or in fact, the entire series - are the only ones that would make me reread and reread them over and over. I've read this about 5 or 6 times maybe. (: The Last Olympian was also as humorous as the previous books; it's small jokes and Percy's -slightly weird - thoughts making us all laugh out loud. Finally, the surviving hero decides to give up immortality in return of a small request that greatly benefitted the rest of the demigods, and to be with his friends and soon-to-be girlfriend. Then at the end of the book, when we all think it's over, the world's safe, another twist occurs - Rachel becomes the new Oracle and the demigods were given a new prophecy that basically tells us fans that there would be another series. (: And I love Rick Riordan for that. :D I can't get over how perfect this ending was. I'm beyond happy with it. It was a perfect tie up while still leaving a few loose ends. I loved that this book was all one big battle. There was so much action I could hardly put the book down. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about what would happen next. I'm glad that there's more books about this world because it's such a good world that I want to be a part of it. Minus the whole getting killed by monsters thing of course. It's one of those books where you think about it even when it's all over. It stays with you forever. That's the quality that makes for a fantastic book. The characters were super awesome in this book. Percy was the brave leader but he didn't save the day by himself. What I love especially is that there was more than one hero that saved Olympus. Even though Percy is the main character it wasn't all about him. I loved that. Everyone else played their part too. Grover and Annabeth were really important and everyone else joined in the battle. The Gods admitted that they needed the help of the heroes and accepted that they weren't all powerful. I love getting to see how the Gods behave and you see a lot of that in this book. If you are a fantasy fan, I'd recommend this book because it's going to be a classic.
The action, never leisurely in any of the five books in the series, runs at a frantic pace here — monsters pop out with a rapidity that becomes almost predictable, except that they are so enjoyably hair-raising, and that Riordan has such clever ways of dispatching them. Belongs to SeriesAwards
The long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy Jackson's sixteenth birthday unfolds as he leads an army of young demigods to stop Kronos in his advance on New York City, while the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster, Typhon. No library descriptions found.
