This is the first volume of Josef Pieper's three-part autobiography in English translation. The first volume dealt with Pieper's life from his birth in 1904 to the time of World War II. The autobiography represents not just a simple continuation of a seamless story early years through his involvement in the vigorous student movements, his contact with some intellectual leaders of the century, academic and social vacations that proved to be very influential in Catholic intellectual history. Saint Thomas Aquinas has great influence in Pieper's analysis and clear explanations of the most crucial concepts of Christianity. No library descriptions found. |
