At the behest of his ‘ex-commander’ (an extremely overused title) Dalziel, he is chasing a rumor of past treason during the war with Napoleon. His lust/love for Lady Penelope is instantly reignited despite the 12 year interruption of the war. Three murders by a mysterious assassin interrupts the lovemaking (how annoying) until they finally manage to trap the criminal. The mystery of Dalziel’s true identity remains. Another romance novel, one where a misunderstanding years ago left each of them mistrusting the other (separated for many years until after Waterloo), but this one does have a real plot to keep you interested long after the gratuitous erotica has you yawning. Aside from the romance aspect, there are murders, traitorous activites found out, help from fellow ex spies, and a lot of speculation and action throughout. No spoilers. Just enjoy it.
