Children of Dune represents a deeper exploration of ideas established in Dune Messiah and builds the foundation for God Emperor of Dune, which many consider to be the best book in the series. It focuses primarily on Paul's children and sister and how they grapple with their prophetic abilities in the same way that Paul did; more specifically, it highlights the intense philosophical dilemmas that said abilities raise and adds great depth to the Dune series by showcasing how they transform their bearers in such a detrimental way.
