A fairly interesting little book of reminiscences, scraps of history and snapshots of life. I'm not as familiar as I might be with the locations, especially the canal, so some of it was lost on me. It's dense with names, places and events; unless you're familiar with Oxford's waterways and/or local history you'll struggle to dredge much out of this book. It will also likely be a lot more accessible to older people who may remember or recognise some of the now-vanished places and past events that are described. ( ) no reviews | add a review
This guidebook takes the reader on a near-circular walk - approximately seven miles, plus optional detours, with conveniently spaced pubs - along the Oxford Canal and back up the River Thames. No library descriptions found. |
