Can't believe I am just reading this now

Loved every minute of it even as an adult! Read it and let go of this world we live in. Embrace creativity, imagination and childlike wonder. ( )

Dog - Bone = Temper

Visually, lyrically and textually beautiful. ( )

This book is one that I will read as many times as I can. I know people say they love this story and the characters, but this has been one book that inspired my imagination and taught me that I love to read and want to write books.

I read this book when I first learned to read and will continue to read it as many times as I can! ( )

I've never before read this book and I was never actually a fan of the story from what I had seen of the Disney version. But I actually enjoyed reading the story. Yes, most of it was nonsense, but it was fun and imaginative. I actually thought about how illogical things at times are in the world are today and found it amusing to compare that with characters like the Mad Hatter and the Red Queen.
I don't know that I would consider it to be a classic but I did find it enjoyable and it was a fairly short read.

Cute but very different from the movies we've all seen. It was interesting to read though! ( )

Epigraph
All in the golden afternoon
Full leisurely we glide;
For both our oars, with little skill,
By little arms are plied,
While little hands make vain pretense
Our wanderings to guide

Ah, cruel Three! In such an hour,
Beneath such dreamy weather,
To beg a tale of breath too weak
To stir the tiniest feather!
Yet that can one poor voice avail
Against three tongues together!

First words
Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, "and what is the use of a book," thought Alice, "without pictures or conversations?"

And she tried to fancy what the flame of a candle looks like after the candle is blown out, for she could not remember ever having seen such a thing.

'Curiouser and curiouser!' cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English); ...

How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile
On every golden scale!

How cheerfully he seems to grin,
How neatly spread his claws,
And welcome little fishes in
With gently smiling jaws!

'Ahem!' said the Mouse with an important air, 'are you all ready? This is the driest thing I know. Silence all round, if you please! "William the Conqueror, whose cause was favoured by the pope, was soon submitted to by the English, who wanted leaders, and had been of late much accustomed to usurpation and conquest. Edwin and Morcar, the earl of Mercia and Northumbria -"'

'You are old, Father William,' the young man said,
'And your hair has become very white;
And yet you incessantly stand on your head -
Do you think, at your age, it is right?'
