(blank) This was surprise, a book I wasn't sure I'd like....Nicholas Sparks and I don't typically get along well. But I didn't mind this one. It was a little cute and a lot sweet. It was short, but that wasn't so bad either. I'd seen the movie so I was truly worried whether I would like this. But, now that I've read it, I know that the movie is very very roughly based off this book. There's no studying issue or failing grades. And the horrible times he said awful things to her in the movies didn't play out that way in the book. and for that I'm grateful. NOT That he was a nice person at first. Very self centered and selfish, he didn't even believe the girl running for class president would beat him....because she'd gained weight over the summer. yeah, he was awful. But Jamie was good and expected more of him. I'm glad he rose to the challenge. no reviews | add a review

HTML: A high school rebel and a minister's daughter find strength in each other in this star-crossed tale of "young but everlasting love" (Chicago Sun-Times). There was a time when the world was sweeter....when the women in Beaufort, North Carolina, wore dresses, and the men donned hats.... Every April, when the wind smells of both the sea and lilacs, Landon Carter remembers 1958, his last year at Beaufort High. Landon had dated a girl or two, and even once sworn that he'd been in love. Certainly the last person he thought he'd fall for was Jamie, the shy, almost ethereal daughter of the town's Baptist minister....Jamie, who was destined to show him the depths of the human heart-and the joy and pain of living. The inspiration for this novel came from Nicholas Sparks's sister: her life and her courage. From the internationally bestselling author Nicholas Sparks, comes his most moving story yet.... .No library descriptions found.
