( ) Tom Reed, a reporter disgraced for his handling of a child abduction story a year ago, finds himself in the midst of a new child abduction story and hesitates to report his suspicions because of the prior debacle. But what he knows may be the key to stopping a child predator who’s set his sights on more children. While the story holds the reader’s interest, the telling of the tale is largely expositional and there’s some frustratingly ad nauseam repetition. Unfortunately, there is no suspense; there are no unexpected plot twists. Astute readers will easily see what’s coming, especially since several of the characters fall victim to “too dumb to live” moments that allow the bad thing to happen. And with all the perpetrators identified early on, there’s no whodunit suspense in this disturbingly dark tale of children in danger. no reviews | add a review
