On m'a proposé de parler des conditions objectives de la connaissance historique, de la même façon qu'Otto Gerhard Oexle parle des conditions subjectives, et de revenir ainsi sur un thème que j'ai déjà abordé dans la Historische Zeitschrift, sur lequel j'ai poursuivi ma réflexion et que j'ai rencontré dans d'autres sources documentaires : le problème de l'inégalité des pertes lors de la transmission, telle qu'elle résulte du hasard et des différences de chances de cette transmission.
