Loading... The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food from My Frontierby Ree DrummondHer cookbooks are amazing!! They are in full color and have a picture with each step of the recipe. Perfect for beginner cooks! ( ) I am a HUGE fan of Pioneer Woman. Her recipes are generally wonderful and I am always sure they will turn out tasting delicious. The only downside to this book is that it contains less southern/midwestern comfort food, and more of the type of food my husband won't eat. I love many of the recipes here, I just wish there were a few less exotic options and more simple offerings. Or maybe my husband just needs to have his palate expanded... I'm not the gourmet chef of the family. I'm the comfort food, "let's get it on the table so we can eat" chef. I was tired of cooking by the time I came across Ree Drummond's first cookbook, and she reawakened my love of cooking. This cookbook is as amazing as the first - but with more food, more recipes, more gorgeous colorful pictures of every single detail. My son has already tabbed every single recipe he wants me to cook - he is a teenager and this is unheard of, high praise from a teenage boy. Thanks again, Ree! I made Ree Drummond's Cauliflower Soup (p.86) and it was SO good, I felt compelled to review her cookbook. The cookbook, itself, is beautifully photographed and well arranged, with a very good index. Ree is a ranch wife with four children. She intersperses her recipes with pictures of the ranch and her children's ranch life. Her photography is stunning. The recipes are such as you'd serve to your family or guests, with easy to procure ingredients, and that can be made by mere mortals without a culinary school background. I've made many of the Pioneer Woman's recipes, and loved all of them. |
