Most children's books on motorsports only cover NASCAR or popular drivers. This book goes into great depth covering the history of motorsports, explaining what I would consider little known facts (the origin of the checkered flag) and for each type of racing, the various sub categories of each racing type. It also makes the case for race car drivers being athletes, children who are racers and a contact for more information list. This book is awesome. A tip of the hat to the author and publisher for writing a well written book. ( ) no reviews | add a review

Full of action photos and explanations of the technical and safety aspects of cars and tracks, this book puts young readers behind the wheel of almost every machine that has been adapted for racing -- from go-karts and stock cars to dragsters and Formula-One cars. Fascinating factoids and trivia pepper the pages with information about the past, present, and future of the sport, with profiles of young kart racers to add peer appeal. So buckle up and tighten that helmet strap. We're racing! No library descriptions found. |
