For me, not as memorable as her book "The Woman Warrior," but still very worth reading. ( ) The story of a Chinese-American family, from the first forays to Gold Mountain to work in mines, on railways, through to the children growing up in America up to the narrator's brother going to war in Vietnam. The complications of emigration, of migrant workers, the tussle between the motherland and a new life in a new country. Very well written, enlightening, informative and interesting. no reviews | add a review
