These heroes are 100 percent raw, dangerous, and...undeniably sexy. New York Times best-selling authors Sherrilyn Kenyon, Dianna Love, Cindy Gerard, and Laura Griffin mix seduction and suspense in three irresistible romantic adventures. From sultry international jungles to the rugged terrain of the American Southwest, join the larger-than-life, scorching-hot alpha heroes of the Bureau of American Defense, Black Ops, Inc., and the US Navy SEALs for all the pulse-pounding, heart-racing, toe-curling excitement. They're cool under pressure, steamy under the sheets, and when the enemy strikes, there's not a lethal mission these gorgeous men can't handle...… (more)

This review is for Leave No Trace (Black Ops Inc. #5.5) by Cindy Gerard and Unstoppable (Tracers #2.5) by Laura Griffin.

Leave No Trace

Undercover CIA agent David Cavanaugh "Cav" had a brief cameo in Whisper No Lies when he helped Johnny Reed save Crystal from the clutches of a human trafficking ring. Carrie Granger was mentioned in Risk No Secrets as Wyatt's highschool sweetheart. When Wyatt let her down gently and later came back a married man, Carrie was heartbroken. In an effort to get some distance and lick her wounds, she left for Myanmar in her capacity as a nurse. She barely put her foot on the curb when she witnesses a young woman being beaten by some corrupt military personnel. She rushes to the rescue only to find herself arrested, tried and found guilty. The military, realizing their mistake decide to make her disappear and ship her off to a labor camp.

Wyatt contacts his old CIA buddy, Cav, and enlists his help to find Carrie. Cav resurrects his cover identity as a shrewd business man and follows his leads to the mine camp where she's being held. What follows is a risky attempt to break her out of there and get her safely back home. What Cav doesn't count on is falling for the gorgeous and gentle southern belle who turns out to be courageous on top of everything else. For one, he's rattled, but in a good way.

I LOVED this little short story, since I'm already in love with the series and the rest of the Black Ops Inc team. Cav was a bit of a mystery, hot to boot, and a hunky hero in his own right. Carrie was a nice surprise as well. I figured her to be that good girl that Wyatt left behind, sheltered, a goody two-shoes. But she showed tenacity and a lot of spunk. I found their attraction believable, sweet and sexy. If any woman could give Cav a purpose for living (again) it was Carrie.

Unstoppable

This is the first time I've read anything by Laura Griffin, and I enjoyed this short story a lot. Gabe is a Navy SEAL who has been asked by his CO to guard his niece and forensic scientist, Dr. Kelsey Quinn, during her excavation in South Texas. Being so close to the border has made the area dangerous a dangerous place to be. Things heat up between the unlikely couple and the sparks fly.

The plot wasn't too bad for a short story. To really get into it, it probably should have been longer because the attraction seemed a little rushed, but not any less hot and steamy. Based on this alone, I'd read the rest of the Tracers series. ( )
