This had some weak areas for me, but I liked that this hero was a scholar and didn't solve *every* problem by pounding it into the dirt (only some of them ;) ). And I liked how dedicated to his bride he became. High steam. ( ) Rounding to 4 stars This book was even better than Book 1. I had zero complaints and gearing up for the pivotal climax and then finally the epilogue. Imagine my surprise when at 72% the book was over. 72%. It then was filled with bonus chapters to other books. It soured my experience. These books aren't cheap. If I buy the remains books at $7.99-$9.99, its still over $150. I am not sure I want to invest into this series if she is not going to give a whole books and then stuff the last quarter with other books. It felt cheap.Especially, as they still had things to do for not only Sebastian but for a certain werewolf friend. The book was NO WAY near done. Its a shame really. This was gearing up to be close to perfect. I loved this world and these characters. I'm interested in continuing because I am invested now. However, with this being the second time she has done this, I'm questioning how interested I am. This one really made me feel like I'd been shorted because, at least with the first book, she went to 82%. I didn't need bonus chapters for books I already owned. I wanted THIS world. I'm not sure if I will purchase additional books from this series for that reason. I don't have it in me to spend that kind of money while on a very tight budget as I'm waiting for disability to come in. There are plenty of other books out there. Since I did love this story so much up until the rubbish of an ending, I'm rounding it to four stars. There is no mistaking this is a talented author, which is why I'm torn on how I feel about the book. Ill leave that up to other readers to decide. No Rest for the Wicked 5 Stars Synopsis Sebastian Wroth has had enough of his existence until the moment Kaderin the Cold Hearted arrives to take his miserable life. After awakening something within him, Kaderin becomes his sole reason for living but she is not called "Cold Hearted" for nothing and cannot understand why she is inexplicably drawn to him. Now the two are competitors in the Talisman Hie, a legendary treasure hunt with a prize that may alter both their pasts and the future they may share together. Review Absolutely fantastic! Sebastian's strength and intense vulnerability are the perfect mix. He is simply adorable and the newest addition to my hero harem. Kaderin takes a little getting used to but she is a wonderful kick-ass heroine and her journey toward loving and accepting Sebastian makes for excellent reading. The Talisman Hie serves as interesting backdrop to the romance and characterization, especially for Bowen. Besides, who doesn't love a good treasure hunt with exciting action scenes? The story is well-written and the humor laugh-out-loud funny. I particularly enjoyed the comments of the other Lore characters at the Talisman Hie gathering, especially the trolls. Finally, although time travel is not one of my preferred plot devices due to the inherent paradoxes, Cole manages not only to make the concept logical but to resolve it in a satisfying way. Looking forward to reading Bowen's book next - should be interesting to see how he overcomes his curse... HTML:New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Kresley Cole delivers a scorching tale about a foreboding vampire who lives in the shadows—and the beautiful assassin determined to hunt him down—in the "sensational" (RT Book Reviews) second novel of the Immortals After Dark series. Centuries ago, Sebastian Wroth was turned into a vampire against his will. Burdened with hatred and alone for ages, he sees little reason to live. Until an exquisite, fey creature comes to kill him, inadvertently saving him instead. When Kaderin the Cold Hearted lost her two beloved sisters to a vampire attack long ago, a benevolent force deadened her sorrow—accidentally extinguishing all of her emotions. Yet whenever Kaderin encounters Sebastian, her feelings—particularly lust—emerge multiplied. For the first time, she's unable to complete a kill. And when the prize of a legendary month-long contest is powerful enough to change history, Kaderin will do anything to win it for her sisters. Wanting only to win her, forever, Sebastian competes as well, taking every opportunity—as they travel to ancient tombs and through catacombs, seeking relics around the world—to use her new feelings to seduce her. But when Kaderin is forced to choose between the vampire she's falling for and reuniting her family, how can she live without either? No library descriptions found.
