(I was hooked, but my 6 month old kept my reading at a crawl for a while in the middle). I got sucked right in and though this book had the slight unfinished feeling first books sometimes have, that also makes me eager for the next installment. It was a really interesting take on a dystopian society and I look forward to finding out more about the world in the next book. I wasn't always such a huge dystopia book fan but this was the book that completely changed my view about them. This has to be one of my all time favourite books. I love everything about it! The world the author created is fantastic. I love how everyone gets sorted into factions kind of like the Hogwarts houses in Harry Potter. It's really cool how each faction has different jobs and qualities. I really liked how they all have initiations too, it makes the world that much cooler. The plot was incredible. It moved along at a perfect pace and there was nothing about it that you could complain about. The intro was really nice because it was able to explain the world will still moving forward with the plot. The ending was incredible as well. It was a huge cliff hanger but the next book was worth the wait. I loved all the characters too. Tris is a great female heroine. She's smart and tough. I just really enjoyed her personality. When she decided something she followed through no matter how tough it got. And she always fights for what she thinks is right even if it doesn't concern her. I loved Toby too of course. I like how he was different from the rest of his group. He's also a really smart character and I really like his and Tris' relationship. Even the other characters that played a smaller part were all relevant to the plot some way. Even the bad guys were really well done. If you haven't read this yet I recommend that you do. In a future Chicago, sixteen-year-old Beatrice Prior must choose among five predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.
