Normally I'm not a fan of works published posthumously. It seems to me that if the author wanted it published, he would have done so... otherwise it can assumed that it just wasn't 'ready' or 'fit' for publication. However, this is a discovery by a daughter of the author, and the verses are successful (charming, silly, etc. as others say), and so I'm accepting it.

The only thing you need to know, besides the fact that I recommend it, is that has not as tight a controlled vocabulary as a Leveled Reader, and is therefore better read by a family or slightly older child. ( )

A great discovery for fans of Frog & Toad, these Lobel poems are short, sweet, and funny (my favorite is "Polliwog School"). There's an introduction by Adrianne Lobel, who also did the color for the illustrations. ( )

Lobel is back with more frogs and toads! The artwork will look familiar to fans of Frog and Toad books. The content is a bit different. Each page features a poem about frogs and/or toads. The poems are funny and cute and I think they would be popular with preschoolers and school age children. The book is included in the picture book section at my library and not in the poetry section which is something to be noted, although I believe that it will stand out more and therefore circulate more often from the picture book section.
