No current Talk conversations about this book. third in McKettrick Cowboys trilogy; Jeb marries Chloe in Tombstone, then believes she's already married and lights out for home. Chloe comes into town grieving the death of her uncle/father and finds her disappearing husband - and the fireworks of misunderstandings begin ( ) Jeb has been on the run from Chloe since the day he married her and a man approached him with proof she was married. While Jeb tries to claim they aren't really wed his actions don't follow through. Chloe is full of fire and righteous fury as Jeb's refusal to talk to her about it and throw accusations instead. More weaving of the other McKettrick characters and introducing some new. Was okay read. It's Jeb's turn to find a bride, although he claims he already has one. The sparks really fly when she shows up in town! Jeb thinks Chloe's already married, and that their marriage is a sham. Even though neither trusts the other, and both are spitting mad, they can't help but be attracted to each other. I'm not a huge fan of the issues keeping would-be lovers apart being lies and misunderstandings. I'd rather there's an outside conflict, although this does have both. Chloe's ex, Jack, is set to rile things up as well, and he's a bit murderous. Also nice was the addition of Holt's daughter Lizzie, a little spitfire. I kind of hope Miller writes a book about her as well. no reviews | add a review
The reissue of #1 New York Times bestselling author Linda Lael Miller's Secondhand Bride, the third installment in the McKettrick Cowboys series and the basis for her wildly popular McKettrick Men and McKettricks of Texas series with Harlequin! The youngest McKettrick brother, Jeb, is the wild one who never could stay out of trouble. And trouble is what he gets when he proposes to Chloe Wakefield. No sooner had he and the pretty schoolteacher tied the knot than Jeb discovers she's already married! After a major dustup with Chloe in a Tombstone barroom, an irate Jeb hightails it back to the Triple M Ranch, certain that his chances of winning the spread in a marriage race with his brothers are dashed. Now Chloe has come to Indian Rock, hoping to find her beloved uncle John and a much-needed teaching post. But when she unexpectedly crosses paths with Jeb, her rage-and passion-flare even stronger than back in Tombstone. Chloe never intended to mislead Jeb about her previous marriage to a scoundrel of a man. But when she finds out Jeb needs a bride and a baby in order to inherit the Triple M, she is livid. Learning to trust will be the hardest part of this mixed-up marriage-until a stagecoach robbery and the return of a dangerous stranger prove to Jeb and Chloe that they need each other to love and honor as long as they both shall live.
