Call For Commissioner Nominations

Posted December 20, 2024

On behalf of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), I extend my sincere appreciation to those who nominated themselves or others for the important role of Commissioner. We recognize the time and effort you dedicate to sharing information and materials with us in support of your nominations to ensure that our Commission has the strongest candidates before us.

After careful consideration of nearly 100 exceptional nominees, John Lane, public representative, and Yvonne Captain, academic representative, were elected to the Commission, for the term January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2029. More information about our new Commissioners can be found on the News page of the Commission’s website.

The Commission will issue its next call for Commissioner vacancies in 2025 for the term January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2030. In the meantime, the Commission will retain all candidate information for reconsideration as vacancies arise. You can find a complete list of Commissioners at our website.

Again, thank you for your interest in serving the Commission and for your continued support of the work of accreditation.

Sincerely,

Heather F. Perfetti, J.D., Ed.D.
President

The Committee on Membership of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has an open call for self-nominations or the nominations of others to serve as an MSCHE Commissioner to fill anticipated vacancies on the Commission.

The Commission seeks nominations of individuals that represent the diversity of size, ownership, and academic nature of its institutional members and to reflect broad geographical and demographic representation by the Commissioners.

Nominees should be active administrative or academic representatives of member institutions, employees of higher education organizations that represent the interests of member institutions, or public representatives. The Commission defines a public representative as an individual who is not an employee, governing board member, owner, shareholder, or consultant of an institution accredited by the Commission or a candidate for accreditation by the Commission; who is not a member of any trade association or membership organization related to, affiliated with, or associated with the Commission; and who is not a spouse, parent, child, or sibling of any of the above.

This is a working Commission, and Commissioners should expect to spend significant time contributing to the work of the Commission. Commissioner terms are 5 years, and no Commissioner may serve more than 2 consecutive terms.
