Science Collaborative for Health disparities
and Artificial intelligence bias REduction
ScHARe (Science Collaborative for Health Disparities and Artificial intelligence bias REduction) is a cloud-based research collaboration platform developed by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) and the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR).
The aim of the ScHARe program is to increase participation of people from underrepresented populations in data science and cloud computing so that everyone can benefit from the research opportunities afforded by Big Data.
An integral part of the program is the ScHARe Think-a-Thons webinar series, conceived to help prepare underrepresented researchers, students, and their collaborators to use the ScHARe platform and learn how to leverage Big Data and cloud computing. Participants will share knowledge and skills, and form cross-disciplinary, multi-level collaborations around innovative research projects that can lead to breakthrough publications.
MissionThe ScHARe project aims to advance research on health disparities, health care outcomes, and artificial intelligence bias mitigation by:
VisionOver the long term, ScHARe will help foster a paradigm shift toward robust and ethical application of Big Data and artificial intelligence tools in the social sciences. The platform will provide a centralized place for the ingestion, organization, and analysis of a multitude of datasets relevant to health disparities and health care outcomes research and will facilitate the development and testing of artificial intelligence bias mitigation tools and strategies. Underrepresented populations, including diverse racial and ethnic groups and women, will gain the knowledge and skills to use Big Data in research and gain the benefits of breakthrough publications.
