Biography

  • Dillon Francis (born 5 October 1987) is a DJ and electronic music composer from Los Angeles, California, US that focuses on musical genres ranging from trap, dubtep, and house music.

Francis released his first EP in 2010 called “Swashbuckler”. After this release he caught the attention of the praised American DJ, Diplo, who later signed Francis to his label Mad Decent. Francis soon collaborated with Diplo on the track “Que Que”, which featured pumping bass lines and samples of Spanish dance rhythms and vocals. Francis soon began to garner popularity with his release of the moombahton track “Masta Blasta”.

In 2011 he released his first EP on Mad Decent labeled “Westside!”. That year he also released the single “IDGAFOS”, which features samples of Adam Levine’s vocals on the Gym Class Heroes’ song “Stereo Hearts”. The song was a great success for Francis, topping the charts of the blog Hype Machine. The song was also used in a highly televised advertisement for the 2014 Super Bowl. In 2011 he also self-released the EP “Ultra” with Cory Enemy as well as the EP Bossa Rocka through the label Top Billin.

Through his 2012 release “Something, Something, Awesome” he became the first moombahton artist to be featured on the top of the Beatport chart. The EP was released through Skrillex’s record label OWSLA and featured a collaboration with electronic music producer Jake Stanczak – aka – Kill the Noise. In 2012 he also headlined a major tour as well as supported main acts like Nero and Flux Pavilion.

In 2013 he released the singles “Messages”, “Flight 4555 (IDGAFOS 3.0)”, and “Without You”. He also was listed on MTV Clubland’s Artists to watch in 2013. In 2013 he was also labeled as the No. 73 DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll. In 2014 he released the hit single “Get Low” with DJ Snake, which immediately became a sensation in European night clubs. This same year he also released his debut album “Money Sucks, Friends Rule”, which was released through Columbia Records. The album contained collaborations with a wide variety of artists like Major Lazer, Twista, and Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie. The album did significantly well on the charts reaching the No. 40 position on the US Billboard 200 and the No. 2 spot on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Apart from music Francis has been involved in the comedy production Meowski666 with Kill the Noise. Francis has also performed at a wide list of festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Camp Bisco, Ultra, and TomorrowWorld. He has also remixed many artists’ music such as CSS, Calvin Harris, and Robyn.

Live reviews

  • Rednecks, Beer, Stetsons, flannel shirts, denim jeans; just a few of the many things that made up this crowd in Knoxville, Tennessee, a city where one can soak up that all authentic country feeling. This crowd was of course waiting for Country Music Awards 'New Artist of the Year 2014' winner, Justin Moore to hit the stage.

What makes country music so unique and special is that there is no need for anything fancy, all you need are a couple of guitars, a bass, a drum kit, a few beers and a stage to perform on. It was all about the music and having a good time, an idea that was made clear through Moore’s set.

Although a new artist on the country scene, Moore has three studio albums out and is currently promoting the third album ‘Off the Beaten Path’. An album full of hip moving, country loving hits such as, ‘Points at You’ and ‘Lettin' the Night Roll’ before moving on to his more popular hits like ‘Til My Last Day’ and ‘Small Town USA’ that got the crowd moving, clapping and singing along to create a memorable night for everyone.

As an Englishman it was an absolute joy to be, for one night, part of such a rich American culture delivered by a truly exciting country performer that is, Justin Moore. Yee-Haw!

  • This was a most incredible performance by both Dillon and Alison. The energy from both artists sets started with full energy and only just built up from there. What a double treat it was for anyone who attended this spectacular night for I do not understand why either didn’t just tour and headlined there own shows. The Pageant is one of my favorite local venues so with all due respect to this historic building, both Dillon Francis and Alison Wonderland need to be performing in much higher capacity venues. I feel so fortunate to see them both, together on the same night in such an intimate setting. Thank You for gracing me with the special memories I shall never forget

  • Easily the best DJ I have ever seen. I saw him in an intimate venue in Madison WI and it was fabulous. He smiles the entire show. He drops an incredible beat. He interacts with his audience. His passion for his music is so obvious and amazing. Not to mention, I met the guy after the show and it was one of the best nights of my life. Props to Dillon!! Cannot WAIT to see him again.

  • I had just only seen him on a YouTube live hosted by NIVA but it was great. He is an impressive DJ and tremendously funny. It’s a whole different experience compared to a live show, yet looking at a screen did not once seem tedious. The hype he created with an audience of cardboards was amazing. Can’t wait to see Dillon live in person.

  • Amazing performance but Dillon has to start making his shows 18+. The amount of drunk 15 year olds who smelt of four loko and vomit was absurd. A lot of people were aggressive and rude, which shows that they were there to get messed up and not for his music. However, I still managed to focus on the music and have an amazing time.

  • Was a good show except for the fact that no one went on until 9:30 after the doors opened at 8. and when Dillon went on his music got so much louder! and not in a good way my ears are practically still ringing. crowd was extremely young and immature. artist before Dillon was great and dillon's light show was really cool!

  • Dillon Francis brought EDC to Portland/Hillsboro that day! It was literally insane there. A lot of people were looking foreword to Dillon Francis more than any other artist that came that day. We were raving when Dillon started his set, and I'll remember this as my first rave/ EDM concert I've been to.

  • Brilliant venue and crowd, incredible music. thanks to everyone for making it special. Security made us feel at home and didn’t treat people like common criminals. Paramedics had a strong presence rather than just initimidating security. valentino & Dillon slayed beyond my expectations.

  • I've been to 22 total concerts in my 18 years of life and this was without a doubt the best live show i have ever seen. From visuals, to just dillon being dillon with everything. Would always recommend seeing him, especially if you've never seen him.
